Ready for the Groundhog and some Pigskin?

Ok guys. Tomorrow is the big day for the year’s 2 big events. Groundhog’s Day and the Super Bowl.

Being from Pennsylvania, we always tuned into the news on February 2 to learn of Punxsutawney Phil’s weather predictions. Phil will come out of his burrow on Gobbler’s Knob to predict the weather for the remaining winter. Will Phil see his shadow or not? As the saying goes if he sees his shadow there will be 6 more weeks of winter. If he doesn’t see one, then there will be an early spring.  The way the winter has gone so far with the constant talk of polar vortex and significant snowfall in the south, you would probably assume that Mr Phil will see his shadow tomorrow. What should we believe if he doesn’t?  I read that there has been only one Punxsutawney Phil. Just one ever. The Punxsutawney officials claim he gets his longevity from drinking a special recipe juice yearly that gives him seven more years of life! So if he doesn’t see his shadow tomorrow you’ll know he drank too much juice! Or maybe they gave him the wrong juice!  The gentleman in the photo is the Groundhog Club President who Phil will reveal his prediction in “Groundhogese”.  So tune into the news tomorrow for the results.  We’ll be listening!

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS               vs             DENVER BRONCOS

Super Bowl Sunday!  Who will win Super Bowl XLVIII (now that’s a lot of letters to spell out a number).  It’s not too exciting this year for us since the Pittsburgh Steelers aren’t playing but we both will be watching the game like most people.  And of course who doesn’t like all the commercials.  It’s the only time Ray doesn’t switch channels during a commercial break!  It’s a fun night.  We are not favoring any team this year so it should be a nice, relaxing game to watch (especially for Ray).

Maybe we should ask Phil to predict the Super Bowl winner. Does he like horses or birds? Now that would be interesting to hear his answer (in Groundhogese).

OK. Come Monday morning we’ll be all back to work dealing with 6 more weeks of winter and a crowned super bowl champ!

Enjoy tomorrow!
