Blooms and Baseball and Birdies, Oh My!

It’s Garden week in Virginia starting this Saturday, but that’s not all that’s going on! Virginia Military Institute’s (VMI) 26th-ranked baseball team plays at home on Wednesday (April 14) and we have been out tasting some local wines we want to share with our guests!

In need of some nature? Guests who stay at Alpine Hideaway in the next week and a half will receive a complimentary guide book to Garden Week events near the cottages! This week of horticulture takes visitors through the gates of more than 250 of Virginia’s most beautiful gardens, homes and historic landmarks, April 17-25. Read more and get event schedules at http://www.vagardenweek.org/.

Want to take in some great ball while you’re in our neck of the woods? Well this is your year! As of today, VMI’s team ranks 26th! The team won twice against in-state foes and scored its second Big South road sweep in as many weekends to earn its highest-ever national ranking. Stay with us this week and head over to Lexington this Wednesday for VMI’s next home game against #1 Virginia!

Need a day on the links? Lexington Golf & Country Club is now offering an Afternoon Delight Golf Special in April on weekdays after 1pm. Book your midweek stay at Alpine Hideaway and enjoy this promotion of 18 holes with a cart, hot dog and a beverage for $35.00. Call 540-463-3542 for a tee time.

Last but not least, we have been sampling some local wines that we want to share with our readers! Stay tuned for next week’s blog on a “taste” of the Shenandoah Valley or visit our Facebook page for a sneak peek!

Until next time,
