Planning Your Visit
If you forgot to book your Valentine’s Day weekend at Alpine Hideaway, you might have missed out on the President’s Day celebration at the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Museum in Staunton today. But don’t dismay; you can visit this family-friendly attraction Monday through Saturday from and Sundays from throughout February. (Also Monday through Saturday and Sunday March-October.) The Library offers a tour of Wilson’s birthplace, a pre-Civil War manse and the WoodrowWilsonMuseum where seven galleries tell his inspiring story as a professor, president, and peacemaker. Children will especially enjoy the interactive Kids’ Corner, seeing the president’s Pierce-Arrow limousine, and strolling through the boxwood garden. Admission is $3 for children, $5 for students, $12 for adults, and $10 for AAA members/seniors.

February 17:

Enjoy the artistry of pianist Di Wu at Washington & LeeUniversity’s Wilson Hall. Wu will present a program entitled “The Art of Transcriptions” that includes works by Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Busoni and Godowsky. Tickets for this show are $15 for adults and seniors, $10 for students. 540-458-8000.

February 19:

February 19-22: 

Cheer on hundreds of dogs as they compete in Star City Canine at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington. Dogs from several states will be competing in Agility, the fastest growing performance sport in the world. Judging begins at and will run until late in the afternoon. 540-464-2950.
February 20:
Find a treasure at the Winter Community Bazaar, sponsored by the Lexington Rotary Club, from at the Washington & Lee Pavilion, Lexington. Entry fee is $1 or a can of food per person. 540-463-4717.

Celebrate Mardi Gras with “A Night in New Orleans” dinner dance sponsored by Lexington-Rockbridge Chamber of Commerce at at Evans Dining Hall, Washington & LeeUniversity, Lexington. Tickets are required. 540-463-5375.
